Wadena Water Advisory

Wadena under second water advisory in three weeks

Aug 8, 2020 | 10:37 AM

For the second time in nearly three weeks, the Town of Wadena has been placed under a precautionary drinking water advisory.

The advisory – which was placed on Saturday, Aug. 8 and is in effect until further notice – is due to “higher than normal turbidity levels.” It’s the third drinking water advisory for the Town of Wadena in 2020.

The Water Security Agency encourages residents to:

  • Boil all drinking water at a rolling boil for at least one minute.
  • Use boiled water for teeth brushing, washing produce, and making ice cubes.
  • Not use nonboiled water for washing dishes.
  • Not drink from public water fountains.
  • Bathe younger children and infants via sponge.
  • Use an alternate, safe water source.
  • Consult their physician if they have severe cuts or rashes prior to using water.

The advisory said adults and older children may use tap water for bathing, showering, or washing, but should avoid swallowing. Laundry can be washed by hand or machine.

The advisory in Wadena won’t be lifted until the WSA deems the water supply to be safe.
