2020 Vanity Cup sees thousands of fish caught, thousands of dollars handed out
The 2020 Vanity Cup took place at the Nipawin and District Regional Park on Oct. 3 and 4.
A total of 160 teams competed in the annual walleye fishing tournament, catching a total of 3,299.8 pounds of walleye over the two days. All COVID-19 guidelines were followed during the event including mask use when physical distancing was not possible, not having the typical rules banquet, or awards banquet, and keeping the group sizes limited when not on the water.
This year’s champions were Tyrell Mooney of Star City, and Michael Copeland of Nipawin who went home with the $100,000 grand prize. The pair caught 29.82 pounds on day one, good for the daily cash prize of $5,000, and caught 18.78 pounds of fish on day two for a grand total of 48.6 pounds of fish.
