St. Augustine COVID-19 Cases

Two more COVID-19 cases at St. Augustine School in Humboldt, one in-person class continues

Nov 15, 2020 | 1:00 PM

Less than a week after its first positive COVID-19 case, St. Augustine School in Humboldt suffered two additional instances of the virus.

Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools (GSCS) announced the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) alerted them of the two cases on Nov. 13 and 14.

While the classroom with the identified case on Nov. 13 will switch to online learning starting Monday, Nov. 16, the classroom with the case on Nov. 14 will continue in-school learning as scheduled.

“Each case is evaluated on its unique circumstances, and the SHA did not recommend this latest classroom switch to online learning,” GSCS Communications Consultant Derrick Kunz told northeastNOW. “All schools in the division have access to the same learning resources, online or in the classroom.”

Kunz said Public Health has conducted contact tracing and GSCS is working with them to notify parents and caregivers.

Further details of the positive case won’t be shared due to privacy protection, but GSCS said the risk of exposure to anyone not considered a close contact remains low.

GSCS reminded students and families to continue performing daily health screenings, staying home if ill, and calling HealthLine 811 if showing COVID-19 symptoms. Along with proper hand hygiene, maintain physical distancing, and wearing a mask.
