Hope and Future: Tisdale Mayor optimistic with vaccines incoming

The COVID-19 pandemic makes 2020 a year many may prefer to forget but there is hope for the future. We’ve decided to make that the focus of our series of end-of-year stories.

As the Town of Tisdale enters 2021, two projects continue to be the focus.

Expanding the sewer lift station as part of the Lagoon Project, and the regional landfill expansion continue to be a priority for Mayor Al Jellicoe.

For the near future, Jellicoe’s message of hope to Tisdale residents is the COVID-19 vaccine continuing to enter Saskatchewan throughout the year.

“We want to get through this pandemic by staying safe and not going out unnecessarily,” Jellicoe told northeastNOW. “Hopefully by the next month or so, there will be a couple of more vaccines out there and we can get about 50 per cent of the population done by the end of June. I think once we get that 50 per cent… it’s going to help.

“We have to get 2020 behind us. Let’s look to a good 2021 and we’ll do whatever we have to do to get back to some sort of normal.”
