A Melfort Mustang forward has decided on a hockey home for next season.

Forward Adam Nobes has committed to Trinity Western University for the 2021/2022 hockey season. The Spartans will be heading into their first season in U Sports this fall.

“We’re extremely proud of Adam. He deserves all the opportunities he’s had and is going to get playing U Sports.” Melfort Mustangs head coach and general manager Trevor Blevins said in a release. “Adam has put in the work on and off the ice. He is a quality hockey player and, even more importantly, a quality individual with a strong character.”

Nobes joined the Mustangs early in the 2019/2020 season after a brief two game stint with the Langley Rivermen of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL). In 45 games with Melfort, Nobes scored eight goals and added 20 assists. He went on the add three assists in four playoff games before the COVID-19 pandemic hit.

To begin the 2020/2021 season, Nobes had three assists in five games before the pause.

Prior to his time in Melfort, Nobes had one assist in seven games with the Rivermen over parts of two seasons. In 2018/2019, Nobes was a standout rookie with the Langley Trappers in the Pacific Junior Hockey League (PJHL), a branch of B.C.’s Junior B ranks. In 42 games, Nobes scored 25 goals and added 25 assists for 50 points, leading him to be named the PJHL’s Rookie of the Year.
