City of Humboldt to match money raised by local committee for Water Ridge Park

Humboldt city council has decided to match the total amount of money raised by a local committee to make additions to Water Ridge Park up to $75,000. The vote took place Monday in city council chambers.

The Water Ridge Park committee was established this past August and is fundraising to add a pickleball court and a playground to the park on the southeast side of Humboldt.

“We’re excited to be teamed up with the city to make this project a reality,” Water Ridge Park committee president Breanna Landry said. “We just can’t wait to get everything rolling.”

The court and playground will be located across from the gazebo at the park.

“We finalized that [the location of the project] with the city last week,” Landry said. “The gazebo is there already.”

The estimated total cost of the project is $150,000, and the committee has raised approximately $42,000.

“All of our fundraisers have gone really well,” Landry added.

The committee is working on the details for their next fundraisers.

The pickleball court is expected to be finished by this summer, and the committee is hoping the playground will be open in the summer of 2022.

“Our goal is to have it done for sure by then,” Landry said. “Hopefully, we will this project become a reality very soon.”
