Different pictures emerge of La Loche school shooter requesting youth sentence
REGINA — Saskatchewan’s highest court has reserved its decision on whether a young man who shot and killed four people and injured seven others in a northern community should be sentenced as a youth or an adult.
Aaron Fox appeared before the Court of Appeal on Thursday to argue that the shooter, now 21, faced cognitive and mental issues that affected his maturity and level of blame.
“One of the themes throughout this whole case, from the very beginning, is you’re talking about a youth who was identified as needing help already in Grade 1,” Fox said after the hearing.
