Andy was born on his family farm on October 24,1934 to parents Nick & Annie Chokan. He grew up north of Gronlid with his siblings Harry, Mary, Nellie,    Victoria, Christina and Helen.

In 1959, he met the love of his life, Vera Olson. They were married on March 16, 1962. Three children were born to this union, Shanon (1962), Roxane (1964) and Rob (1965).

Andy loved being with his family and friends. He was a man of few words and had a lot of patience. He was very involved in his children’s and                  grandchildren’s lives.

Andy loved fastball and played centerfield for the Gronlid Royals for many years. He liked to hunt, fish, and could always be found in his garden. Aside from farming, his sawmill and planer were his life’s work and passion.

Andy is survived by his wife of 59 years, Vera.

Andy was predeceased by his parents, Nick and Annie Chokan, brother Harry Chokan, sisters Lena Chokan, Mary Grypiuk, Nellie Kostiuk, Victoria Kantymir as well as his father in-law & mother in-law Alvin and Geolina Olson.

A service celebrating Andy’s life was held from the Fedusiak Funeral Chapel. Melfort, on Friday, October 8, 2021.  The interment followed in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery Columbarium.

Friends so wishing may make memorial contributions to the North Central Health Care Foundation, Melfort, or to the Chateau Providence Auxiliary, St. Brieux.
