Riders punch ticket to Winnipeg, beat Stamps 33-30 in CFL West semifinal
It took overtime, but the Saskatchewan Roughriders won the CFL West Division semifinal 33-30 over the Calgary Stampeders on Sunday.
Brett Lauther’s 34-yard field goal snapped a 30-30 tie and lifted the Roughriders to the victory. His kick came moments after Rene Paredes missed a 44-yard attempt on Calgary’s second possession of overtime.
The victory put the Roughriders into the West Division final, which is set for Dec. 5 in Winnipeg against the Blue Bombers.
Saskatchewan quarterback Cody Fajardo threw four interceptions Sunday, but ran in a late one-yard touchdown to put the Riders up 27-24.
