As the year draws to a close, Tisdale is looking back on the highlights and anticipating what’s to come.

With the final days of 2021 coming up, town staff has put together a list featuring big projects of 2021, town growth, and upcoming endeavours for 2022.

Brad Hvidston, Chief Administrative Officer, said they are celebrating the completion of a few big projects.

“We finished our new lagoon and main lift station project which was a total of $3.5 million.”

The town has also completed roughly 95 per cent of their landfill project. The city rebuilt their landfill by adding a new cell and moving its scale shack. The project was $3.5 million and is expected to last over 10 years.

The number of building permits has increased from 2020 to 2021 by roughly 322 per cent in the town.

The town has started laying the groundwork for a larger expansion despite COVID-19 delaying things.

“We started prep work on our next residential subdivision, putting in water and sewer lines, as well as a storm sewer system. It will be approximately 60 lots.”

As a result of the extensive amount of work needed on the lots, the completion date is expected in 2023.

Due to the large projects taken on in 2021, Hvidston said the town currently has a lot of capital that will enable a bright future for 2022.

“We will carry on with our waterline replacement program and our pavement program, as per our infrastructure management program.”

To help keep town facilities operating and looking their best, the town is looking into doing minor renovations to the RECplex. The renovations will include the installation of new flooring.
