Mustangs add to red-hot roster in trade with Bonnyville

Jan 4, 2022 | 1:15 PM

The Melfort Mustangs are currently on a nine-game win streak as they sit at third place in the SJHL standings.

Looking to add depth to their roster and bolster their defensive core, they have acquired 2003-born defenceman Cameron Emigh from the Bonnyville Pontiacs of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL).

In exchange, the Mustangs will send a player development fee (PDF) to the Pontiacs.

Emigh, out of Bonnyville, Alta., played in 15 games with the Pontiacs this season, scoring one goal and adding two assists for three points.

“Cam is a versatile defenceman who skates very well and is responsible at both ends of the ice,” said Mustangs Head Coach Trevor Blevins in a media release. “We are excited for Cam to be part of our defence core now and in the future.”

Emigh also played eight games with the Pontiacs during the 2020/2021 COVID-19 shortened season. He tallied one assist in those games.

Melfort will look to go for their tenth straight win tonight when they visit the La Ronge Ice Wolves.
