Fath, Belton commit to Mustangs for 2022/23 SJHL season

The Melfort Mustangs are already gearing up for the future of their club. In the past week they have announced their first two commitments to their team for next season.

Today, it was 2003-born forward Teo Fath out of Calgary, Alta., who is listed at 5-9 and 151 lb and is currently a member of the Calgary NorthStars U18 AAA club.

Through 35 games with the NorthStars this season, Fath has scored 10 goals and added 13 assists for 23 points. That has him tied for third on the team in scoring.

“Teo is an excellent skater with very good hockey sense,” said Mustangs head coach and general manager, Trevor Blevins. “He has great hand and is tenacious on the puck and will fit nicely in the SJHL and with our club.”

Prior to this season, Fath played three games with the CNHA Canucks U18 AA club during the COVID-19 shortened season. In 2019/2020, he was second on the CNHA Canucks U16 AAA club with 42 points in 37 games.

Last week, the club added 2004-born forward Logan Belton of the Winnipeg Wild U18 AAA club. The Winnipeg product is listed at 5-11 and 176 lb.

“Logan is a player with excellent offensive instincts and produces it at a high level,” Blevins said. “He will be a great addition to our forward core next year and in the future.”

Belton currently leads the Wild in goals and points through 33 games. He has 29 goals and 23 assists for 52 points. His 52 points are good for a tie for ninth in the Manitoba U18 AAA League, and his 29 goals are good for sixth.

In the COVID-19 shortened season, Belton scored two goals in two games. He was also a call-up in 2019/2020 and scored one goal and added two assists in four games.

In a press release sent to northeastnow by the Mustangs hockey club, they welcomed both Fath and Felton to the city and their organization.
