Unemployment rate falls in Canada, rises in Saskatchewan
Canada’s unemployment rate fell to its lowest level on record in March.
Statistics Canada said Friday the national unemployment rate dropped to 5.3 per cent, the lowest it has been since comparable data started being recorded in 1976.
The previous record was 5.4 per cent in May of 2019.
Employment rose by 73,000 jobs nationally last month as the unemployment rate fell by 0.2 per cent from February.
