It is with great sadness the family of Jean Beacom announces her passing on May 20, 2022 at the age of 90.
Jean was predeceased by her parents William & Jane Lonsdale, her brother William (Bill) Lonsdale, her grandson Riley, and her husband of 55 yrs Stan.
Jean was a long time resident of Melfort, Sask. She was born in Melfort on Aug 5, 1931 and lived her entire life there except for a brief period of time when she went to Secretarial school in Prince Albert. Following that she worked at the Melfort Research Station where she met her husband Stan.
One of mom’s greatest joys in life was music. She had a beautiful voice and spent 40 years teaching voice lessons out of her home. We would enjoy listening to mom play the piano for many hours. Mom sang for many weddings and funerals in and around the Melfort area.
Mom enjoyed growing beautiful plants and flowers. She took pride in the fact that her front and backyard looked beautiful after spending many hours outside attending to her flowers & plants. Mom had a “green thumb” and could make anything grow.
For many years Mom was involved in the Melfort Music Festival, helping out as the adjudicators secretary, as well as entering most of her vocal students in the festival.
Prince Albert National Park (Waskesiu Lake) was one of mom’s favourite places to go in the summer. She spent many summers there with her family & looked forward to Birthdays & Anniversaries that were celebrated at the lake with her children and grandchildren.
Jean is survived by her daughters Kathy (Paul), Connie (Mark), and her granddaughters Jillian (Adam), Jeannette (Shaun), Taylor (Devon) and her great granddaughter Brenley.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude and appreciation to Dr. Beresh and the awesome nurses at the Melfort Hospital who took such great care of mom during her recent stay.
Our hearts are saddened that you are no longer with us, but you will stay in our hearts forever. You are at peace now.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that if you wish, you can make a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society.
At Jean’s request, no service will be held. Her interment took place in the Columbarium at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Melfort.
