Nipawin council approves tax rate for 2022
Residential property owners in Nipawin will soon know how much they’ll owe in taxes this year.
The town’s council met on Monday where they approved the 2022 mill rate at 7.06.
This may be confusing to some, but to summarize, for every $1,000 that a property is assessed it gets multiplied by the mill rate. For example, if a property is valued at $250,000 then the owner would have to pay $1,765 in property taxes.
This is just the municipal side as the provincial government also collects the education tax from properties. The education mill rate is set at 4.54. Again, if the property is valued at $250,000 then the owner will have to pay $1,135.
