Two more charged with first-degree murder in Megan Gallagher investigation

Two more people have been charged with first-degree murder in the death of Megan Gallagher.

One of the accused, 44-year-old Roderick William Sutherland, previously was charged with offering an indignity to human remains in the case. He was arrested Tuesday on the murder charge.

The other accused, 24-year-old Summer-Sky Henry, is at large. A warrant has been issued for her arrest on a charge of first-degree murder.

She also is wanted on unrelated charges of unlawful confinement, aggravated assault, robbery, firearm and drug offences, and failing to comply with a court order.

Anyone with information about Henry’s whereabouts is asked to call police at 306-975-8300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. Police are warning anyone who sees Henry not to approach her and to call 9-1-1 immediately.

“At this point, investigators of the Major Crime Section do not anticipate any further charges and believe that they have identified everyone that was involved in the death of Megan Gallagher,” the police said in a release. “However, investigators will continue to accept tips and information from the public regarding the investigation.”

Gallagher, 30, was last seen on video surveillance footage at a corner store on Diefenbaker Drive in Saskatoon in September of 2020. In January of 2021, police announced they were treating the investigation as a murder.

Her body hasn’t been found, but human remains were discovered Thursday during the first day of the search of an area of the South Saskatchewan River near the village of St. Louis. Police haven’t said if the remains are those of Gallagher.

Police have said their working theory is that Gallagher was abducted, unlawfully confined and killed in Saskatoon, then her remains were disposed of in the area where the search is now taking place.

Four people now have been charged with first-degree murder — Sutherland, Henry, Robert James (Bobby) Thomas and Cheyann Crystal Peeteetuce. Three other people have been charged with committing an indignity to human remains, and one is facing charges of assault and unlawful confinement.
