He was asked to run by other community and board members, so he decided to go for it.

Wolowski enjoyed being on the Economic Development Board and seeing the work it has done and the work it has done so far.

A born and bred farm kid from the rural area of Carrot River, Wolowksi left for over a decade, getting an engineering degree from the University of Saskatchewan, spent a few years designing air seeders for CASE IH and then felt Carrot River calling him home.

“I moved back here in December 2016 and started as the maintenance planner for Edgewood Forest Products. I left that position this year to go farming full-time with my Dad and my brother,” he said.

Wolowski has also spent some time on the Diamond North Credit Union board.

He sees housing supply as the community’s biggest upcoming challenge.

“It’s really tight and we have to get on top of that so it doesn’t become too big of a problem,” he said.

Infill lots in the community have all been bought up and developed as have properties with older homes and one of council’s next jobs will be to create more subdivisions.

In the by-election held on December 14, Wolowski received 34 of the 96 votes cast, one more than Friske while Panchyshyn received 29 votes.
