Iris May Cross

Iris Cross of Melfort (formerly of Regina) entered into peaceful rest December 29th, 2022 in Melfort, SK., young at heart at the age of 93.
Iris was born on September 26, 1929, at the family home in Pleasantdale, Saskatchewan to John Richard Graham and Edith May Graham. Iris was the last surviving sibling of four children, Jack (Graham), Gwen (Cross), and Marguerite (Powely).
While growing up on the Graham family farm in Pleasantdale, Iris was proud of her accomplishments in school and carried on to complete a commercial course at the Reliance School of Commerce in Regina, Saskatchewan. She spent 35 rewarding years at various positions in Regina, including S.T.C, Scotia Bank and the Federal Government.
Predeceased by her loving husband Art Cross (2006), Iris and Art lived a life full of love and laughter together for their 58 years of marriage. Their daughter Annie was brought into the world in 1950, Beverley Iris (predeceased in 1956), and Al in 1959. Iris and Art raised their family in Regina. Their family homes always had the most beautifully manicured lawn with many fragrant flowers. Together they enjoyed travelling the world and spending winters away in warmer weather. Some of Iris’ most fond memories of travelling include summer trips to BC and picking fruit, Hawaii, Waskesiu, Alaska, New York and Moscow Russia.
Her personality shined in all her interactions. She was a very poised woman, took great pride in her appearance and was very proud of her accomplishments; refused to admit defeat to her age, was very quick witted, had an uncanny sense of humour and will be fondly remembered for her ‘Iris-ism’s’.
Iris’ love for her family was evident everyday, she stated that if she could live her life once more, she would marry Art all over again. She loved going on car rides, sitting at the farm on Sundays, listening and watching birds, listening to country music, dancing, reading and all animals. She will be immensely missed by her daughter Annie Robson of Melfort, son Al Cross of Regina; grandchildren – Richelle Rogers (Kent) of Melfort, Rylee Robson of Melfort and Samantha Jones (Matt; nee Cross) of Calgary; and great-grandchildren – Kody and Kenzie-Rae Rogers of Melfort. Iris was predeceased by her parents John and Edith Graham, daughter Beverley Iris Cross (1956), son-in-law Jack Robson (1999), husband Art Cross (2006), granddaughter Raelene Robson (2011) and sisters Marguerite Powley (2016) and Gwen Cross (2018).
Forever in our hearts, a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother,
friend, and inspiration.
A service celebrating her life was held from St. James Presbyterian Church, Melfort, on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Kevin Shiach officiating. The interment will take place at a later date in Regina Memorial Gardens, Regina, SK.
