A perennial favourite of the Calgary Stampede are the chuckwagon races and Saskatchewan is representing once again.

Rapid View driver Rae Croteau Jr, is currently in fourth place with almost $19,000 in earnings and a collective 6:00.2300 minutes in running times.

He is $5,000 behind the leader, Chanse Vigen.

Sitting in 7th place is Ross Knight of St. Walburg, but he is closely followed by Jamie Laboucane in 8th place, also of St. Walburg.

Hudson Bay’s Evan Salmond is riding in 15th place while Wade Salmond, of Weekes, is in 19th position.

Born and raised but now living in Alberta, Layne MacGillivray is ranked third overall.

Another north central competitor is in the rodeo, albeit not in a chuckwagon seat.

Melfort’s Cache Schellenberg is competing in the novice saddle bronc, taking second place yesterday with a 70.5 point ride on Forced Borderline.

The competition continues until Sunday, July 16.
