Beatrice was born on November 15, 1927 in Weyburn, SK. She, with her two brothers were raised on a small farm near Benito where she attended a country school from grades 1 to 10. After that Bea went to work at the Weyburn Sanatorium, where she would meet her future husband, the grounds man who had recently returned from World War II. Bea then married John B. Shirran on March 15, 1946. They moved and started their life together on a small farm in Pleasantdale, SK.
In 1952 the family moved into Melfort and in 1956 Beatrice started a new job at Parkland. In those days, only one member of the family was allowed to work a full- time position and so Bea worked part time. Beatrice loved working at Parkland helping the patients and the new workers, even teaching them the ins and outs and what to do. This is the job that even today Bea is known for.
The family moved up north to Flin Flon, MB in 1964 but returned to Melfort in 1970. John and Bea then built their new home at 215 Osbourne St where Beatrice would remain until June of 2020 when she became a resident at Parkland, a place she loved working all those years ago.
Beatrice was an avid bowler, dedicated Legion member and the secretary for many years. She always planted a garden and loved her flowers. Tulips were her favourite and grew them in a variety of colours and sizes. Beatrice walked almost every day around her neighbourhood and loved getting to know her neighbours and having visits; she had the best neighbours. Beatrice was a multi talented lady, and spent many hours doing handy work like crocheting, sewing, knitting and baking. She enjoyed doing puzzles, reading, and helping out her friends, but visiting with family made her shine. Beatrice loved her family.
Beatrice is survived by: her daughter Shirley (John) Duesener; son George (Denise) Shirran; daughter-in-law Daphne Shirran; her grandchildren: Camille (Guy) McCrea, Colleen (Curtis) Bowditch, Ken Wynnyczenko, Dustin Wynnyczenko (Nicole), Stacy Wynnyczenko (John), Amy Shirran and Mike Shirran (Stacey); great grandchildren: Nathan, Hailey, Cameron, Brandon, Taylor, Morgan, Zachary, Dakota, Samuel, Dawson and Cohen.
