Fay Ella Evelyn Smith

Fay Ella Evelyn Smith was born on December 6, 1933 in Snowden, Saskatchewan to Levi and Leona Smith. She joined older sisters Letty and Cora, and was followed by her younger sister Shirley, and brothers Iner and Larry.
Fay briefly attended school, but the local one-room schoolhouse was not equipped for special needs education.
Leona patiently taught her to print and sign her name, and she filled countless notebooks practicing. Fay grew up by her mother’s side as a hardworking helper, and Leona often said that God knew she would need someone so strong, especially after Levi was debilitated with a stroke.
Fay loved having fun with her siblings and nearby cousins, teasing, and being teased.
She brought many laughs and smiles to almost everyone she met.
After her parents and Cora passed, Fay lived with her niece Verna for almost 7 years. During that time, she had many experiences that she had never been able to have. Some favourites of hers were riding the Ferris wheel, going to camp, flying (by herself!) to visit Iner and his family in Ontario, moving to Alberta, and attending Adult Day Program.
The last dozen years of her life were at Parkland Place in Melfort, where the wonderful staff became like family, and she was cared for so well.
Although Fay could be challenging at times, we are grateful for her special presence in our family and are rejoicing that she is now whole in every way.
A Private Family interment Service was held.
Friends so wishing may make memorial contributions to a Charity of One’s Choice.
