Dec 11, 2023 | 2:05 PM

There was a flurry of activity before Sunday’s SJHL trade freeze, and the Melfort Mustangs got in on the action.

The team made two deals on Sunday including a multi-player trade with the Yorkton Terriers.

The Terriers sent Clay Sleeva to the Mustangs for Kale Johns, Thomas Reis, and David Coyle, a second-round pick in the 2025 SJHL Draft.

The Mustangs also sent Hudson Norris to the Melville Millionaires for a Player Development Fee.

Sleeva, a product of Canora, Sask. has spent his entire junior career in Yorkton. So far this season, he has 10 goals and 12 assists. Last season, he put up 33 points in 51 games and 108 penalty minutes.

He spent his AAA hockey days with the Tisdale Trojans and Yorkton Maulers.

The Mustangs are coming off a two-game weekend which featured a 2-1 win over Kindersley on Friday and a 4-3 win over Yorkton on Saturday.

The team is back in action on Tuesday as they travel to Melville to take on the Millionaires.
