Nipawin & District Regional Park honouring past and present during its 50th anniversary
With 50 years of service about to be under their belt, the staff at the Nipawin & District Regional Park plan on celebrating their milestone anniversary over two days.
Rhonda Rasmussen, park manager, told northeastNOW this anniversary was planned since May, and she’s excited to celebrate 50 years of people coming out by throwing a party for everyone as a way to give back.
“I’ve been coming out here as a child with huge family picnics and big events, and I know many families have done that over the years,” Rasmussen said. “It’s just a place of gathering for the town of Nipawin and it’s just a little oasis of beauty out here. People can just get away from everything do the simple things in life which sometimes are the best things.”
The park was established in 1968, so staff decided to have a 60s theme for the anniversary, with costumes, bike decorating contests, and church service.
