Naming right search in Melfort expands to Palace score clock

Jan 31, 2024 | 2:05 PM

The City of Melfort continues to look for interest in the naming rights of certain municipal facilities.

That includes the Northern Lights Palace, and the skate park, soccer fields, ball diamonds, and dog park at Spruce Haven.

The city also added a potential sponsorship opportunity in the Northern Lights Palace score clock, which could soon be replaced.

“I think anybody that’s been to any games recently has noticed that it’s getting a little old,” City Manager Adam Homes told northeastNOW. “Parts are hard to come by nowadays so we’re looking at replacing that, so it’s a great opportunity to add your name to it.”

Homes said subject to budget approval, the clock could be replaced by 2025.

There has been interest in the naming rights, according to Homes, especially the score clock. He added the city is looking at a longer-term committment from sponsors for facilities like the Palace, at around 10 years.

“I think it’s a great opportunity for businesses to partner with the city, and it provides us with a bit of extra revenue… so that allows us to continue investing in our great facilities,” Homes said.

You can contact the city for more information on purchasing the naming rights, or visit their website at melfort.ca.
