Raiders help Town of Cudworth raise over $14,000

Monday afternoon, the Prince Albert Raiders took practice on the road to the community of Cudworth in honour of community’s recently installed artificial ice plant.
Two days ahead of a 12-day, six-game road trip that will take the Raiders through Alberta, B.C., Oregon, and Washington state, the team got in the travelling spirit with a practice outside of the comforts of the Art Hauser Centre. The Raiders held practice for an hour, attended by local students and community members, before opening the doors and welcoming children aged four to 17 onto the ice with the team.
This is the first year the community of Cudworth has had artificial ice in the arena, and yesterday’s event was able to raise just over $14,600 towards the costs of the upgrade, according to the Cudworth Artificial Ice Project Facebook group.
“They’re trying to raise some money for the rink and it’s important to get out and help. It’s just part of what you should do in any community, as a team or as a person, help other people. A lot of those people support the Prince Albert Raiders too, so we owe them that,” Head Coach Marc Habscheid said on helping the community unveil their new artificial ice surface.
