Mustangs rally in second period to beat Ice Wolves

The Melfort Mustangs won their third straight game Wednesday dropping La Ronge 4-1.

The hometown Ice Wolves jumped out to an early lead just 2:19 into the game, when Daniel Chartrand beat Evan Plotnik making it 1-0.

The Mustangs wouldn’t find the back of the net until the second period where they scored three times. Colin Schmidt, Carson Albrecht and Reed Gunville put Melfort up 3-1 after 40 minutes.

Rock Ruschkowski’s fifth goal of the season in the third secured the victory for the Mustangs. Adam Hergott picked up two assists in Melfort’s 20th victory of the season.

The club moves three points up on Nipawin for the Sherwood division lead.
