Nipawin council awards Evergreen food service contract

Nipawin town council has agreed on a new proprietor for the food service contract at the Evergreen Centre.

On Oct. 30 the town cancelled the contract with Spice Hospitality after just six months into the lease. At a special meeting of council on Friday, Dec. 15 councillors agreed to award the lease to Karinne Seiferling. Seiferling has operated The Spot at Pasquia Park for the last three years. She said she’s ready for the new endeavour.

“We’ve established ourselves, we’ve got a great reputation, we know what we’re doing now,” Seiferling told northeastNOW. “Let’s go for it on this larger scale operation.”

Details covering the contract will be ironed out in the new year. Seiferling said the lease term will be a minimum of three years. The agreement will entitle Seiferling to the restaurant, concession and liquor sales on the golf course. She said she wants to make the venue desirable for all customers.

“You have your group of golfers come in, then a family of five and then a couple. I want to be able to create a room to accommodate everybody comfortably,” she said.

Seiferling is currently is Victoria, B.C. working at a restaurant but will return to Nipawin in the new year to begin preparations. Along with chef Brandon Lucianto the two will hash out a new menu, provide upgrades to the facility and hire staff.

Seiferling hopes to open in March.
