Mustangs maul Broncos

The Melfort Mustangs scored four unanswered goals in the final 30 minutes Friday securing a 6-2  win in the team’s final game before the holidays.

Captain Andrew Thompson scored the ‘teddy bear toss’ goal just 9:35 into the first, giving Melfort a 1-0 lead over the Broncos. Humboldt tied the score before Carson Albrecht restored the Mustangs’ lead after the first period.

The Broncos tied the game again early in the second but Melfort came back with four goals, all unanswered. 

Colin Schmidt picked up his 12th of the season and Reed Gunville scored his fifth. Thompson added his second of the night and 11th of the year in the final frame where Tristen Elder capped off the scoring with his seventh goal. Loch Morrison had three assists, Gunville, Albrecht and Elder each had two points.
