Conservation officers in east-central Saskatchewan are investigating a pair of poaching cases.

Officers received a tip from the public regarding a beheaded white-tail deer approximately 10 kilometres northwest of Bjorkdale on Dec. 3. The animal was shot on the edge of Highway 23 before the head was cut off. The carcass was left to waste.

On Sunday, Nov. 26, Humboldt based officers received a call pertaining to a mule deer being shot and left to waste. The animal was found on a grid road northeast of Muenster. Investigators believe the deer was shot at a different location before it was dumped along the road.

Any information regarding these incidents can be passed through the province’s Turn in Poachers line.
