The Nipawin Hawks bolstered the middle of their line-up on Wednesday ahead of the Canadian Junior Hockey League trade deadline.

Nipawin acquired centreman Jason Bednarski, 20, from the La Ronge Ice Wolves for a player development fee. The Espanola, Ont. product scored eight goals and had 14 assists in 36 games in La Ronge. Hawks’ General manager Doug Johnson said Bednarski fills a potential hole on the roster.

“With the uncertainty of Brandan Arnold’s status, we felt we needed another centreman and I think Jason is a guy that can surprise a lot of teams with the package he brings,” Johnson said.

Nipawin also sent forward Caleb Paisley to the Waywayseecappo Wolverines of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League for defenseman Wayde Johanneson. The 19-year-old has played 40 games collecting 19 points, including three goals.
