Pair of Mustangs among SJHL weekly winners

Two Mustangs are among the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League's weekly award winners, announced Monday.

Forward Ben Allen scored four times and assisted on four other Mustang goals during three games, earning himself player of the week honours. The Allen, Texas product had four points in Saturday’s win in Flin Flon. He scored twice and added an assist in a 5-2 win over Yorkton last Tuesday. Since being acquired from the Penticton Vees Jan. 10, Allen has six goals and five assists in nine games played in Melfort.

Loch Morrison also had a strong trio of games, earning himself the defensemen of the week award. Morrison, 20, scored once and picked up an assist in the Mustangs three contests. Overall this season, the Prince Albert product has 18 goals and 37 assists, and sits second overall in scoring for defensemen behind Nipawin’s Josh McDougall.
