Falling ice closes downtown Toronto attractions including CN Tower: police

Apr 17, 2018 | 2:23 PM

TORONTO — Several downtown Toronto attractions, including the CN Tower, have been closed due to concerns about ice falling from buildings.

Chunks of ice tumbling off the CN Tower on Monday had caused a hole in the roof of the nearby Rogers Centre, forcing the cancellation of a baseball game between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Kansas City Royals.

The Rogers Centre was open Tuesday, with the Blue Jays playing a doubleheader, but police say fans are only able to enter and exit on the west and south sides of the stadium.

Toronto police say the CN Tower, which was shut on Monday, was closed again Tuesday afternoon, along with the nearby Ripley’s Aquarium, the Steam Whistle Brewery and part of a nearby street.
