RCMP seek information following break-in attempt and fuel theft near Humboldt

Jun 13, 2018 | 5:00 PM

Humboldt RCMP are looking for information from the public after two recent incidents close to the community.

Police were called May 28 after about 150 gallons of diesel fuel was siphoned from a tractor parked in a rural area three miles southeast of Humboldt. RCMP said they believe the theft happened between May 24 and May 28, and urged the public to ensure all vehicles and fuel tanks are locked when unattended.

RCMP were called again following an attempted break-and-enter at a shop near the community of Carmel on Highway 5. Sometime between May 19 and June 1, police said someone tried to pry open the door to a shop, damaging the door and frame. Police said it doesn’t appear that the perpetrators were able to get into the building.

Anyone with information about either of the two incidents was encouraged to contact Humboldt RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
