Co-op opens Home and Agro Centre in Melfort

A project which began four years ago finally saw daylight July 5 as Prairie North Co-op opened its new Home and Agro Centre in Melfort.

The redeveloped store converted its garden centre and service base into contractor and agriculture centres. Randy Wassermann, general manager of Prairie North Co-op, told northeastNOW he believed the changes were important to the community.

“We identified the contracting business was essential to home and building solutions,” Wassermann said. “We wanted to make an area where we could work with contractors and most importantly get them in and out of the building as quick as possible.”

With agriculture becoming a large and specialized industry, Wassermann said he wanted Prairie North Co-op to do the same for those customers. When asked about any more investment in the Melfort area, Wassermann said the food store is also due for a renovation soon.
