Melfort Exhibition kicks off this weekend

Jul 19, 2018 | 5:23 PM

One of the Northeast Saskatchewan’s largest tourist events turns 113, as the Melfort Exhibition begins tomorrow July 20 at 10:30 a.m. with the traditional Mile Long Parade.

This year the Melfort Agricultural Society will take over the parade from the Melfort and District Chamber of Commerce, with parade floats judged categories such as commercial, community, horses, novelty, and travelling circuit.

Each night from Friday to Sunday features a main event. Friday will host “Motorcross Under the Lights”, Saturday will see a comedy group from Saskatoon called “Don’t Mind Us” along with fireworks at 10:00 p.m., and Sunday will be a more kid friendly day with the Indigo Circus roaming the exhibition grounds.

The Melfort and District Museum will try something new, as members open their doors for a cook off on Saturday, where contestants will smoke or barbecue three to five pounds of beef or pork ribs with a $250 cash prize up for grabs.
