Attempted child abduction reported to Tisdale RCMP

Aug 1, 2018 | 10:03 AM

The Tisdale RCMP are reminding parents and guardians of children to keep their eyes open after an attempted child abduction was reported to police.

According to RCMP, the complainant said an adult male driving a white, four-door truck approached two children on 100th St. in Tisdale July 30, “offering them candy and a ride home.” The driver appeared to be in his thirties, RCMP said, with a dark complexion, glasses, and short, brown hair. There were passengers in the truck, the RCMP noted, and the complainant believed it was a Dodge.

RCMP said the two girls who were approached by the vehicle, ages six and nine, declined the driver’s offer. Although police made extensive patrols in the area, they were unable to locate or identify the suspect.

The Tisdale RCMP reminded parents and guardians to be vigilant about children’s whereabouts and ensure children are told not to accept gifts or rides from strangers.
