Melfort Chamber of Commerce building up for auction

Aug 2, 2018 | 1:09 PM

As one set of doors close for the Melfort & District Chamber of Commerce, they hope it leads to a new one opening.

Members of the chamber announced their building, mini golf course, and fence will be sold via online auction starting Friday, Aug. 3.

“The sale of the chamber building will allow the chamber to rebuild in a sustainable way, this was a solution that the members supported at a community meeting that took place on May 4,” Chamber Director Gisele Dube said.

It’s been a challenging 2018 for the chamber. It will no longer receive a yearly $30,000 grant from the City of Melfort for tourism, is still missing an executive director since Nicole Gagne resigned on Feb. 2, and has roughly $40,000 of debt as of this May.
