Fire consumes 300 round bales

The cause of a fire Tuesday in the Rural Municipality of Torch River, remains under investigation by the Nipawin Fire Department.
Just before 11:30a.m, Nipawin firefighters responded to a rural property and a found a row of approximately 300 hay bales on fire. Windy conditions made efforts tougher for the firefighters, but they were able to contain the fire to just the hay bales. There had been some concern the fire might jump to a neighbour’s crop.
The fire department remained on scene until 10:45 p.m. and the fire was eventually extinguished.
