Melfort Chamber of Commerce still looking to sell building after auction

Aug 24, 2018 | 10:00 AM

Two weeks after an online auction closed to find a buyer, the Melfort & District Chamber of Commerce still has not sold its building, mini golf course, and fence.

Darryl Benson, one of the Chamber’s Board of Directors, said there were bids placed on the building, but none were high enough to go ahead with the sale at this point.

“The Chamber was trying to get its finances in order,” Benson said. “They wanted to have an office on Main Street or downtown to have more of a presence in the business community.”

Benson admits the process has been moving slowly, with the board being spread thin due to fewer directors. He said the Chamber needs help from the local community, and asked business owners to continue supporting the organization.
