UPDATED: Area residents to be without landline services Friday morning

Sep 6, 2018 | 11:03 AM

Residents across the northeast are being advised that landline phone services will be unavailable Friday morning between the hours of 3 a.m. and 6 a.m.

SaskAlert issued a warning Thursday to customers across the region, including in areas around Carrot River, Cumberland House, Hudson Bay, Nipawin, Porcupine Plain, Red Earth Cree Nation, Tisdale, Tobin Lake and Zenon Park. The service will be down Friday morning while SaskTel crews work to move underground fibre optic facilities to make way for an upcoming construction project on Highway 3.

Customers are advised to keep their cell phones charged in the event of an emergency during the outage, or if a cell phone isn’t available, to contact emergency services directly. The outage was originally planned for last week, but was postponed.
