Broncos will not pass memorial site on way to Nipawin
The Humboldt Broncos will not be retracing the tragic steps of April 6 for their first road game of the new SJHL season.
The team travels to Nipawin today for their game against the Hawks tonight but the players and coaching staff will not have the distraction of the memorial site to deal with as they prepare for the game.
A release issued by the communications organization handling the team’s media affairs confirmed the team bus would not be passing the crash site on the way to the game.
It was just over five months ago that the team bus – on its way to a play-off game in Nipawin — collided with a semi at the intersection of Highways 35 and 335, killing 16 and injuring another 13 people.
