New apartment building opens in Melfort

A new building now stands in the old Main Arena location.

Tamarack Ventures officially opened its 24-home apartment complex in Melfort after nearly 12 months of preparation.

Joe Remai, General Manager and Owner of Tamarack Ventures said Melfort has a stable rental market even while he believes the economy is slow.

“We have lots of local trades[people] that said, ‘Joe now’s the time to build, we need work,’” Remai said. “Because of the loyalty they showed to us we said OK. Our other buildings in Melfort are doing well.”

Remai said Tamarack Ventures decided to put in four wheelchair accessible rooms in the building after a person in a wheelchair approached him about finding a place to live.

Tamarack Ventures is planning to build another condominium in Melfort as the city’s population grew 7.5 per cent according to the 2016 Canada census.
