Oct 6, 2018 | 9:09 AM

The Melfort Mustangs are hot on the heels of the Nipawin Hawks for first place in the SJHL’s Sherwood Division, following a 5-1 win over the La Ronge Ice Wolves Friday night.

The Ice Wolves drew first blood at the Northern Lights Palace, scoring at the 4:36 of the first period but the Mustangs would respond five minutes later. Zach Andersen found the back of the net with help from Tulsen Fawcett and Boedy Donald.

The Mustangs would then score two more goals in the second, and two more in the third period.

Kyle Schneider, Jake Hobson, Justin Ball and Carson Albrecht were given credit for the other Melfort goals.
