Tisdale church parishioners baking meat pies to fund renovations

Tourtieres, known as meat pies in English, are being baked and sold by an informal group of parishioners at Zenon Park Church as one of their fundraisers to help cover costs for the church’s renovations.

Colette Marchildon, a parishioner for the group raising funds for Zenon Park Church, told northeastNOW her group doesn’t have many people or an owner for the church, so money is scarce to pay for renovations.

Marchildon said the women of the group are pushing the fundraising aspect to help the men move forward with doing the renovations themselves.

“It started out encouraging the guys to get on it and start doing the work,” Marchildon said. “We told them if you guys were willing to work at it we’re going to do fundraising and get you the money to pay for it.”
