North East SPCA Raises Woof in Nipawin, prepares for more fundraisers

The North East SPCA has wrapped up a couple of fundraisers as they continue to raise money for the Harry and Eve Vickar Shelter in Melfort.

SPCA Chair Pat Shiels said their recent event in Nipawin was a success.

“For Raise the Woof we had about 120 people there, so it was really good,” Shiels said. “They raised about $3,300, and Scotiabank is going to match the ticket sales, which was about $3,000.”

Oktoberfest was also hosted in Melfort last weekend. Shiels said that work continues on the shelter, with the floors having been poured and they hope to have the walls up very soon.

Shiels says they have a few more fundraisers planned over the next while. Christmas pet photos will be taking place in Nipawin Nov. 17, raffle tickets are being sold for an ATV until May, a Facebook auction is currently underway, and their Fall into Winter Trade Show happens Nov. 10.
