The four best teams in International Women’s hockey will converge in Saskatoon this week.

The 2018 4 Nations Cup will take place at the SaskTel Centre starting Tuesday, and running until Saturday, Nov. 10. Canada, the United States, Finland and Sweden will take part in the tournament that Steering Committee Member Hugh Vassos called “women’s hockey at its finest.” He said the fact that Saskatoon has held other high-level events in the past helped with the bid process for the tournament.

“We’ve proven ourselves in terms of hosting event in the past,” Vassos said. “The world juniors in 2010, we’ve hosted the Memorial Cup. We’ve hosted numerous other tournaments event outside of hockey. Fastball and a number of others. We’re the best place as far as we’re concerned to host these kind of events, and we want our fans to prove that to Hockey Canada because we will be bidding again.”

The event is a fundraiser for the development of female hockey in Saskatchewan and General Manager of the Saskatchewan Hockey Association says the tournament is a great opportunity to grow the game.
