Nov 7, 2018 | 2:08 PM

The ice is in, and the rocks are ready as curling season is here. The Melfort Curling Club is getting ready for their first tournament on November 23 to 25, an Open CashSpiel.

The club is running its normal leagues again this year as well, and is also trying to start a mixed doubles league on Wednesdays. When it comes to registration for those leagues, Club Manager Gerald MacGillivray said numbers look good.

“Right now it’s holding its own,” MacGillivray said. “We’ve got some new teams coming in. Of course you lose the odd team, the odd person for whatever reason, but we’ve got some new curlers starting this year which is grea to see. So, it looks like our numbers will hold their own this year and maybe even increase which is great to see.”

After last years success at the Provincial Scotties in the city, the club is hosting the Provincial Club Championship in March. MacGillivray said they plan to host some sort Saskatchewan Championship each year.
