Youth charged in connection to damage to Memorial Garden fountain appears in court

The youth charged with mischief in connection to damage to the fountain at Memorial Garden in Melfort was in court this morning.
 
The fountain was damaged on Sept. 28, and video surveillance footage led to charges being laid against the youth.
 
He was given an opportunity to apply for alternative measures and was then set to return back to court in three months.
 
Alternative measures would see the youth acknowledge his actions and a chance to do community service rather than be sentenced and receive a criminal record.
 
The youth will return to court on Feb. 26.
