UPDATE: RCMP advise Highway 41 is now open after this morning’s fatal collision.

One person was declared deceased after a collision that closed Highway 41 this morning.

According to an RCMP media release, initial investigation revealed a westbound tractor trailer hauling crusher dust collided with an eastbound car around 7:50 a.m.

The driver of the car, an adult male, was declared deceased at the scene. His name is not being released at this time.

The man driving the tractor trailer was uninjured.

Police are still investigating the crash in conjunction with the Saskatchewan Coroners Service. The highway is scheduled to be closed in both directions for several hours as the RCMP forensic reconstructionist investigates.

A collision closed a portion of a local highway this morning.

RCMP were on site of the crash between a car and a semi on Highway 41, eight kilometres southwest of Wakaw.

Motorists were being asked to use an alternate route, and detours were in place.

RCMP said the highway was expected to be closed for several hours while traffic reconstructionists continued their investigation.
