NCHCF receives grant from Kinsmen Telemiracle Foundation

Members of the North Central Health Care Foundation (NCHCF) are close to finishing their fundraising for the digital imaging machine at the Melfort Hospital.

Thanks to the Kinsmen Telemiracle Foundation, NCHCF was awarded a $50,000 grant to go toward the machine. NCHCF Chair Peggy George said they were very excited about getting the grant.

“We’re ecstatic,” she said. “Over the moon excited.”

The machine is almost paid off.

“The light is getting brighter,” George told northeastNOW. “We had $110,000 left. Now with this $50,000, and we’ve had a few other donations, we are about halfway there. Fifty-thousand dollars I would say is what we have left.”

George and others hope some will come in through the holiday season.

“That’s when a lot of people go through their finances and think ‘Well we need a few more tax deductions’ and wonder who could be benefiting. So we’re hoping that we will get some gifts in that way. Our door is always open,” she said. “We’re just asking the public, yes, one last push, get us over the edge, and let us finish this campaign and move on because there are more things waiting that need to be purchased.”

The NCHCF received funds from the Tim Hortons Smile Cookie Campaign, as well as proceeds from the RCMP Golf Tournament in Melfort.
